Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Never tried a hammock on a boat, but they don't allow you to stretch out or sleep comfortably on your side and modern boats are not set up for them. Small boats don't really roll in seaway. The motion might be likened to that of a rodeo bull on a seesaw.

Hundreds of shipping containers fall off ships every year and not all of them, e.g., those filled with athletic shoes, sink very fast. They are a big worry for offshore sailors, but no one really keeps a lookout for them.

I always ask because we count 8 years of exclusivity before our 33 years of gov't sanctioned bliss.

When does the clock start ticking? First date? When relationship, ahem, was consummated? When you have a toothbrush at their place? When you have the same address??

Inquiring minds want to know.

We date it from consummation, but it was fairly clear even then that it more than casual.

By your rule, I suppose we are 29 not 27 years together.

I've had to throw my puffy jacket on over my t-shirt to walk Benson.

I wore my (not very) puffy jacket yesterday. Pulling it on, I was reminded that there was a grease stain of some sort on it that I'd been unable to get rid of last year, despite multiple washings. I think I'll put a patch over it, instead.

It's just a PrimaLoft jacket. I'm thinking of getting a jacket with more serious insulation this winter.

Mine is the inside jacket of a Columbia 3-in-1 deal. You know it's winter when you go through the trouble of zipping/buttoning them together.

Avis overcharged me a whopping $260 for my rental car to Ohio last month. That's nearly twice the correct amount, including taxes, etc. To make matters worse, the customers service rep. I spoke with acted like he was doing me a favor by correcting the error.
