Forum: Classic & Vintage Bicycle Appraisals and Inquiries

Use this subforum for all requests as to "How much is this vintage bike worth?"

  1. Sticky Thread Sticky: Bike Flipping 101

Do we need a "Bike Flipping 101" thread/stickie in the Valuation sub-forum? Several threads recently are along the lines of: "I want to buy a bike to ride now and flip later so is this a good bike for that and if not then what should I look for and how do I know if a bike is a good bike to buy...

  2. 1987 Davidson Challenge

Davidson Challenge, 1987 with full original Shimano 105 gruppo. Lot's of miles so wear is apparent and expected but well cared for. Minor surface rust. Sorry, no pics as it's an unexpected, chance, find. Can you give me a perspective of what a fair price would be? My size and would be my...

  3. Campy spindles & Shimano 600/ D-Ace cranks — square taper same?

Out there at some airport sits an 1985 Simplon in Reynolds 531 with Campy dropouts and a CAMPY BB/spindle in square taper. Now I am trolling for a crankset. Older Campy, AFAIK almost always uses 144 BCD — a real PITA when it comes to replacing rings. So, I'm now looking at Shimano 600/Ultegra —...

  4. Unidentified late 80's (touring?) Bianchi and restoration ethic

I recently bought a late 80's Bianchi at an auction, because it was really cheap (130 swiss francs, around 100 USD), perfectly rideable (no damages except cosmetic ones) and suiting my touring needs. Let me put here first that this bicycle may not have been built with touring in mind, but it...

  5. campagnolo identity challenge

headset (what you can't see from the picture...): caged bearings, crown race has the <C> stamped between "Campagnolo and patent" on the edge that rests on the fork, but the <C> appears nowhere else on any part. '1" X 24 TPI ENGLAND Made in Italy' stamped on the inside of the adjustable race and...

  6. Bridgestone 700 (1985?)

From perusing the Bridgestone catalogs, the 700 appears to be a higher end model. And judging from the font on the seat tube, this particular 700 looks like a 1985 or earlier. Is this worth anything close to $300? http://slo.craigslist.org/bik/1455578391.html

  7. Colnago w/ campy record 90ies

Always wondered what this bike would be worth. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/tt150/Streikk/IMG_0012.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/tt150/Streikk/IMG_0013.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/tt150/Streikk/IMG_0014.jpg It has some nice things to it:

  8. Unknown Scwinn

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/bik/1469447457.html Well, the Schwinn in he picture looks "higher end", but he does not know without looking at it what it was. He mentioned that his father took really good care of his stuff and and the bike is super nice. He is holding the wheel truing...

  9. Centurion Sport DLX

Picked it up just now via CL. I thought 50 bucks was a steal for this bike, but I think I was wrong. I will definitely still make a few bucks on it, but I thought the quality of the componentry would be a little better. It's got a real cheap looking Sugino crank set, steel rims, weird cheap...

  10. 1992 Bridgestone MB-1 like new

I know of a 1992 Bridgestone MB-1 for sale for $1000. It has been barely ridden and is like new. All original components. What is it worth?

  12. 1973 Raliegh Sports 3 speed

Ran across a 1973(?) Raleigh Sport 3 speed .... the metallic brown version with a 23 inch frame. Bike is complete with original paint and overall in pretty good condition except some rust on the rims. Saddle and tires (obviously) are not original, but everything else appears to be. Any idea of...

  13. 20" B C America fold-up

Hi! I'm looking for information on a bike my mother-in-law purchased used a few years ago in FL. It's a 20" fold-up made by B C America, a company out of Bethlehem, PA probably in the 1980's. The company was bought out right after that and we think they purchased many of them. The bike...

  14. Stella Arctic

I've never heard of this brand before, I picked it up for the campy hubs and later saw that it has campy dropouts and columbus tubing so I thought maybe is not a cheapo bike afterall what would be a fair price for it minus the wheels, frame is too tall for me anyway to keep. ...

  15. Trek 728_1982

I am looking at pictures of this bike and it appears that the down tube decal is missing and I only see 2 chain rings. Also 1 wheel is not stock and it looks like the crank might not be original. I know the frame alone in good shape would be pretty desirable but what about the missing decal? Is...

  16. Cramerotti w/ campy - full-fledged Miracle - value?

I just received a full-fledged, deadhead style Miracle. I was given a bike and asked to find a home for it. I knew it was a nice bike when it was given to me but I didn't look too closely (when people give me bikes, I don't look it in the mouth - I thank them and assure them that the bike or at...

I have an opportunity to buy a vintage Monarch Aerodyne helmet. I know very little about it, but it looks interesting. Google and ebay searches came up empty. Is this rare? What do you think this is worth? Thanks in advance http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/3594/14154403.jpg By...

  19. Bianchi 110 anniversay titanium I want to buy

Hello brothers and sisters. I have fallen in love with a titanium (so I am told) 110 anniversary model by Bianchi. The fork is grafite and there are 110 embossed everywhere on this beauty, not just the painted Bianchi logos on the frame. Even the seat is embroided with Bianchi 110. I do not know...
