Forum: Singlespeed & Fixed Gear

I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!

  10. What next for Windsor The Hour?

I'm going to throw some bullhorns on it, and I'm already looking for better pedals. My question is, what else should be changed? I like the bike as is, but realize that it could benefit from a few upgrades. Open to suggestions, as this is one of my winter project bikes.

i've been trying to figure out my size in a track frame by comparing measurements to my current road bike, which fits me perfectly. of course, nothing matches up perfectly, and i wouldn't expect them to... i've done a lot of reading. some say to go with a bike that most closely matches my...

Don't laugh. I have a set of Tektro R530s, which is Tektro's better brakes, and a set of Campy Xenons, which is their bottom of the range. Which is going to perform better? Just wondering if anyone has tried either or both.

  14. why are track wheels so heavy?

just curious, a lot of (low to mid-level) track wheelsets i'm seeing (velocity and generic deep v's, mavic, weinmann, formula hubs, alex, etc etc) seem to be pretty heavy (2000+ grams). to put things into perspective, that's about 2-300+ grams heavier than a mid-level mountain bike wheelset. is...

  15. How come when i say "nice bike" to a female FG rider, they think im hitting on them?

im just trying to say nice bike. are girls that conceited where they think every guy that says nice bike is trying to hit on them? this seems to hold true with FG girls...probably because they think they are the ****.

Or, I could buy a converted one for about $200-250 with mostly stock parts that came on the bike like...
