OK, so here's the deal. I'm a 4 time returning company team captain (Team Bio-Rad Laboratories) for the Seattle Tour de Cure. The current local fundraising challenge is for an XBOX 360 Pro system. The rider who raises the most money by December 31st wins an XBOX 360 Pro.
I already have one, and I don't need another one. So... I offer the possibility of a raffle. If you donate to my TdC fundraising and I win the challenge for an XBOX 360 Pro, I'm going to raffle it off to one of my lucky donors. There is no guarantee of a prize... or even a prize drawing. Be certain of that. This is a fundraising challenge, and the possibility exists that someone else may raise more money than me.
However, I am currently $275 ahead of the next nearest fundraiser, so the possibility of me winning and raffling the game system are high.
The more people you pass this notice on to, the more likely I am to win the challenge... So pass the word around.

Full details are available on my blog, "Permanent Clydesdale". (It's also linked in my sig file, below.)

The New England Classic is back for 2010 and looks to be better than ever.
Held for almost 20 years to benefit the American Diabetes Association, the New England Classic or NEC is a 7-day, 550-mile bicycle tour that makes a loop through four New England States: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont, July 10-16. Riders looking for just a weekend tour can ride the first two days of the NEC and then return to the start on motor coaches while bicycles are lovingly loaded into trucks for the trip back.
Featuring unparalleled support for riders, the NEC route takes you along the seacoast, into national forests, and through quaint New England towns. In addition to well-stocked rest stops along the route each day, riders get all-you-can-eat breakfast and dinners. And on the NEC there is no camping. Overnight accommodations are in comfortable college dorms and ski resorts.
Don't miss this chance to be part of a sweet ride to beat diabetes. While pedaling for a great cause you'll enjoy the camaraderie of fellow cyclists who revel in being known as a "caravan of crazies." Go to
www.newenglandclassic.org for information on the NEC including photo galleries and blogs from previous years.
Don't wait any longer! Sign up for the NEC today.

I also posted this in the regional (northeast) forum, but thought it might be good to post here as well.
As I was driving through Bethlehem yesterday, I saw a bunch of kids all trying to pile on one bmx style bike w/ front and rear pegs and someone perched on the handlebars.... So I started thinking. There are so many bikes of all sizes that get tossed out (either kids got too big or the bike needs a tube) would anyone on here be interested in gathering up said "junk" bikes and helping to fix them up for kids that can't afford a bike? If there is any interest on here about doing this, I'm going to approach a few LBS and see if they are interested in a tax write-off. If they donated basic parts, tubes, brake pads etc and I (we hopefully) donate labor and time to fix the bikes up (w/in reason, true junk bikes could be used for parts or sent off for recycling) there could be alot of happy kids/teens or even adults this holiday season. If you think I'm nuts, cool, if you want to help way cooler. I haven't thought out all the details yet but am open to suggestions etc. Think about it people!:thumb:
